I went to Podcast Movement 2021 in Nashville and met Dave at the Libsyn booth. I didn’t know he was the host of the School of Podcasting at that time. Dave and the group I was with later ironically had lunch together due to some mutual connections. It was then I found out about Dave’s School of Podcasting show. I am so thrilled I found this show. I’ve been podcasting now for around 7 months and am loving it and learning a great deal as I go. Having found Dave’s show and listening to the content has been extremely valuable to me. I’m considering joining his online group to continuing the learning with like-minded individuals. Thank you Dave for the great content you produce and the serendipitous meeting we had at the booth and over lunch. I’m looking forward to continuing to learn with your community and through your show.
I’ve been listening to Dave Jackson’s podcasts from the very beginning. Yes, the VERY start of his podcasting experience. I remember the launch of the School of Podcasting. The beauty of this launch was not that it started the era of quality podcast coaching, but that it came AFTER Dave had already jumped through many of the hoops, failed at many approaches, and discovered many of the best practices of podcasting. Dave has done a number of shows through the years. When he offers an approach, it’s because he’s become adept at that offering. When he recommends a service (or suggests you should avoid it) it’s because he has used it and tried everything possible to break it or to take best advantage of it. Dave’s School of Podcasting is the real deal. He deserves every accolade he receives, including his Podcast Hall of Fame award. Listen to the School of Podcasting — whether you are just getting started — or when you are a veteran podcaster hoping to keep up with the best practices of podcasting.
I find this podcast to be extremely helpful. Dave not only educates, he manages to be funny through storytelling when he does it.! Dr. John - The Men’s Self Help Podcast
Truly the heart of a teacher but also has the best information and experience to teach the right way to podcast. He is in the Podcasting Hall of Fame for a reason!
I find this podcast to be extremely helpful. Dave not only educate, he manages to be funny through storytelling when he does it.! Dr. John - The Men’s Self Help Podcast
A chatty show that treats listeners like family vs. one hurling podcasing tidbits. Podcasters, like any group, are often enamored hot, shiny baubles. Dave Jackson has a fantastic knack for helping people refocus on the basics that help you grow a podcast and skip the mistakes. I've avoided so many problems by listening to this podcast.
At first I thought oh man, this guy is like a sports announcer, but the episode was so good I immediately listened To the next episode and subscribed. There’s some great nuggets of advice that I will immediately put into my podcast. Highly recommend for anyone, senior or newbie podcasters alike. Thank you!
Tired of going down techie rabbit holes? Tired of Rah Rah passive income nonsense. Check out THE Dave Jackson. He's a podcasting OG, but still remembers what it's like to be a newbie. Has the technical chops to be really helpful, but understands that podcasting isn't about the tech. Check out a couple episodes. He's kind of like your crazy Uncle. Lots of cheesy jokes, but you'll love him to death.
I like this podcast a lot because I am a podcaster “ What’s That “ it gives me the best tips and tricks for my podcast The only thing I don’t like is he trash talked anchor, which is the platform ,It is so easy to use and it is free But other than that it is pretty good
I’m still trying get better for my podcast and whenever I get discouraged, I listen to Dave. Afterwards I always feel better and get excited to continue to improve. I think my podcast is improving as I have tried to apply some of Dave’s advice to my show. Thanks for contributing your knowledge Dave!
Great content, motivational and informative. Def recommend, to you who are making podcasts
Dave’s podcasts were very helpful in getting me started with my own podcast. In addition to the operational knowledge, he is a great motivator. The motivational aspect kept moving me to action.
This is an excellent podcast that offers immediate value. I learned multiple valuable insights and was taking copious notes the entire time.
SOP is a definite must-listen for anybody looking to get into podcasting. Whether as a hobby or as a business, Dave has words of wisdom with the gusto of a Top 40 DJ. So many great nuggets of knowledge, almost NONE of which are about tech, microphone styles, or recording platforms. SOP proves you can sound good on a budget.
...is right here, at the School of Podcasting and in the satellite campuses in the Podcasting Network. Dave Jackson tells you honestly, openly, and with the right level of wit, humor, and compassion what you need to know to launch and succeed with a podcast. No, it’s not about the mic. Or the host. And not the mixer. It’s about the “why”, and Dave tells you, on many levels, how to hone your why. Want to launch a podcast? Start here.
SOP is pretty much my go to for everything to do with podcasting. I’m working on launching my own podcast and everything is covered here to get me going. Honestly listening to Dave and his guests has really helped calm some of my nerves and give me the tools and motivation to get this off the ground. I definitely recommend if you’re planning to launch a podcast or currently run one and want to learn more!
Dave Jackson and The School of Podcasting rocks my socks. Dave says what needs to be said and it’s like I’m listening to myself with a deeper voice because he speaks my language. You’ll always get an easily implementable takeaway. Five stars!
Dave’s show is absolutely entertaining and educational all at the same time. I learn so much every time I listen and enjoy it all at the same time! Thanks Dave!
Edutainment at its finest. Dave knows his (you know what) about podcasting but delivers the information in a way that’s fun to listen to.
I’ve known Dave for years as the podcast guy, I’ve seen him speak on it as well. But it wasn’t until I finally launched my podcast that I tuned into his show. Within just a few episodes, I realized that I should have been listening way before I started. Dave is a wealth of information. I love that he is brutally honest, and not afraid to tell it like it is. I will be listening going forward, as this information is what I need to grow and improve my podcast! Vincent Pugliese The Total Life Freedom Podcast
I love both podcasts: School of Podcasting and Your Podcast Consultant. Your Podcast Consultant is my favorite of the two because it gets to the point. School of Podcasting is wonderful as well. Dave Jackson shares what he knows in a way I need to hear it. I am starting my own podcast this year, and Dave’s podcasts are helping me. I appreciate Dave’s offer during his podcast to hire him as a consultant. I’m planning to get his opinion before I record my first episode. I don’t know about you, but I can’t see my blind spots. I know Dave can. I appreciate your podcasts! Thank you Dave!
There are only 2 podcasters that I hold in high regard when it pertains to growing your podcast: David Hooper and Dave Jackson. David Jackson superbly teaches you step by step how to grow your podcast and what NOT to do so that you are successful. I thorougly enjoy the personal stories (my condolences for your beloved cat) and guests that give you such expertise knowledge to help you with your podcast growth. I am eternally grateful for Dave Jackson and the School of Podcasting for showing me the way to successful growth with my podcast. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK DAVE JACKSON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Literally! I came to the US in 2008, with a thick accent and a little bit of conversational english. I spent almost 10 years trying to chase the dream and blend in but I never thought that I’d break out of the mold. I started listening to podcasts and stumbled upon Dave’s podcast 2 years ago. I never looked back since. Not only did he bring out my confidence, he also armed me with the tools i need to start my own podcast. I started the wedding video boss podcast in January 2019 and it has surpassed my expectations. Thanks so much Dave! I owe you big time! 😘
This podcast helps me keep up on the latest news in podcasting. It’s a very entertaining show—I even find myself singing the jingles around the house, and Dave’s enthusiasm is contagious.
So much great information. I also love your dry sense of humor and the way you sound so natural and conversational. Excellent show. I’m glad I found you.
I just started my own podcast and Dave was invaluable in helping me come up the learning curve far faster than I normally would have. I never miss an episode. My only gripe is the sometimes cheesy and jarring sound effects. Less is more!!
I started listening to Dave before I launched my podcast and he has been a great resource for me. I love his style, his humor, and how much value he shares.
Dave is the best source for how to make your podcast better. His induction into the Podcast Hall of Fame (yes, it exists) and it is well deserved. I can say that after only 6 months of listening.
One of my favorite podcasts about podcasting. I learn something I can apply to my podcast every week! Dave brings on awesome guests as well! Thank you Dave!
When I decided I wanted to learn how to podcast, Dave Jackson was one of the first people I found talking about how to do it. In just a few weeks of listening to his podcast, I went from the idea of having my own podcast to launching my first show! Dave's podcast is by far the best podcast on podcasting in the business and a must for anybody looking to start a podcast, improve a podcast, or deliver a message with a podcast. Thank you, Dave! Without you, I would not be a podcaster today.
I just drove to the airport and have new ideas for our Patrons and listeners. Thank you, Dave! I think you solved our T shirt dilemma. BAM! There’s nothing I’d rather be doing than podcasting. So thanks for the help. Now back to my breakfast cocktail at the airport. Cheers!
I love the "because of my podcast" segments and all the great information you pack into the episodes. I launched The Citizen Heroes podcast today thanks for the motivation and information. I hope that someday soon I will be able to contribute a b/c of my podcast story.
This show is one of my weekly listens. Dave is very enjoyable to listen to, and you feel like he is a friend who wants to help you be the best you can be. I have learned a lot from Dave and will continue to learn each week. Now get to class!
Truly the heart of a teacher but also has the best information and experience to teach the right way to podcast.
I started listening to Dave a few years back and can't believe that I "listen faded" for a couple of years! Reacquainting myself with the podcasting community and so glad to start the process with The School of Podcasting. Dave's insight, experience and openness is welcomed and gives me confidence to start up my podcast again (or maybe a new one). Thanks!
Dave is a great teacher & resource for both aspiring and emerging podcasters. Because of him and my one-year enrollment in his School of Podcasting, my path to launching and getting nine podcasts up for my show was made much easier - and they were much better too. I picked up equipment, tools, and practice information that I am thankful for. Hats off to Dave and his School of Podcasting - a great listen - and a good value.
There is not a more committed, authentic and helpful friend of podcasters than Dave Jackson. His timely and helpful weekly show is jam packed with the best advice available to a newbie or seasoned pro podcaster. A real turning point in my podcast was when I took a chance and had Dave and Erik K. Johnson review my show on the podcast review show, yes it was scary but as Dave sometimes says, "no one every got punched in the face because of a podcast." Whether its the podcast review show or school of podcasting you cant go wrong evolving a friendship and professional connection with Dave, and if you haven't already submitted a because of my podcast story to Dave it will be worth your time to do so. I just cant say enough about this great show and good guy, Dave Jackson.
I’ve been listening to this show for over a year and I have learned so much about improving myself as a podcaster. Dave is entertaining, funny, and super knowledgable about all things podcasting. You will definitely become a better podcaster if you listen. Keep up the great work Dave!
I have been listening to Dave for about 3 months and he is great. I listen to other podcasts about podcasting and the main goal of the podcast is to get you to pay them thousands of dollars to help you with your podcast, they feel sleazy. Dave isn't like that, he offes his services, but it's secondary and I like that. If you want an honest help for your podcast Dave is your guy. Keep up the good work Dave!
Love listening to the School of Podcasting! It is truly "everything you need to start [and run] a podcast."
I've been listening to the School of Podcasting for years, so this review is long overdue. Thanks Dave for this show, every week you teach me something and push me to do a better job on my podcast. If you are a podcaster, or thinking about starting a podcast, you'd be a fool not to subscribe to this show!
Podcasting is for everyone & Dave's advice & tips really help get me started. When ever Im asked "how do I start a podcast?" I send them here to the school of podcasting. Thanks for a great show !
Great podcast using Chuck Berry as a comparison to developing one's own podcast. I would love to hear more of your guitar playing too.
This is the best show for anyone interested in learning about starting a podcast. They cover everything you could possibly want to know about creating marketing and growing your show. It's honest and fun to listen to. GREAT SHOW!
Love listening to The School of Podcasting every week. So much value. It gives me validation and confidence. Dave is funny, entertaining and relatable. I have even subscribed to his other shows because he makes everything interesting. Whether you are thinking of starting your podcast, are a newbie or even an experienced podcaster this show should be in your list.
Your show has given me the confidence to start a podcast. I plan to go live in a couple of weeks and I really appreciate your show. Thank you!!
I've been podcasting for only a few months and two of the main inspirations have been Dave Jackson and Glenn Hebert. I'm writing this as I listen to the two of them on a show together. This show is great for tips and tricks that would take years to stumble upon. I highly recommend listening to this if you have any interest in starting your own podcast.
Thanks Dave for episode introducing ringr and new podcast on worst interviews. Great show as alwasy. You always make me think, help me learn, make me laugh and groan once in a while! Thanks for all you do!
This podcast has starts the week off for me on Mondays. He is great teacher. Dave make the tech. stuff easy. Great show!!!
Whether or not I ever have a Podcasts I will probably always listen to Dave's show. Sure, he talks about podcasting, how to podcast, and other podcast stuff but the show is usually entertaining on its own. It is worth a listen even if you never plan your own show but enjoy the medium of podcasting.
If you're just about to start or have been podcasting for a long time, this is great show for you. Great info, practical advice, no snake oil nonsense and I'm always entertained. Dave is also very responsive to off air questions. He jumped in to help me with an issue. It was a quick & easy fix but would've taken me days if not weeks of research on my own. Thanks!
I am addicted to this podcast. Learn something new and valuable every week. This led me to sign up for Dave's School of Podcasting course - not only a comprehensive & up to date resource for starting (or growing) a podcast, but also a great community of people. Thank you Dave!
My girlfriends and I run a fan site, and decided to do a podcast several months ago. We purchased our microphones, bought our hosting and prepared our site to house a podcast. Your advice gave us the courage to just hit "record". Not just the technical aspects of it (that's easily found via different outlets), but the philosophy of the actions behind it. Providing 'value', focusing on your audience, and keeping it fun for you to make it through the long haul. Invaluable. I found you on the podcaster's roundtable, and followed you to your site and downloaded your episodes. I enjoy your entire catalog. :) Keep doing what you are doing, and thank you again!
Just simply thank you to you, Dave for all that you do for the platform of podcasting and for us, the podcasters out there learning from you every day. Thank you!
I've been listening to Dave for something like 4 years now, about as long as I've been podcasting. I've listened to most of the other podcasts about podcasting, but Dave is the only one that I listen to regularly. Always informative, always has value, AND when I sent him an email a while back, he responded with a video! How cool is that? Rock on Dave, keep it up.
Dave is teaching me a lot about podcasting. I'm trying to get one going and have lots of questions. The School of Podcasting is answering a lot of those questions for me. The cat bits are hilarious, and you can tell Dave really loves what he's doing.
i love being a podcaster, however, there is so much i need to learn...and i learn from people like dave jackson-- thre is one thing you need when you start a podcast..thats guts! it takes guts and passion to start businesses...and podcasting is a business- ( Positive Phil )
The only podcast that you need to listen to if you want to know about podcasting,he usally knows the answer,if not he will find out he is a great resource
I subscribed to Dave's School of Podcasting after listening to several episodes of his show. There are other people out there who teach podcasting with a bit more hype, pomp and circumstance, but I don't believe that those methods will produce long term results. What I like about Dave is he seems to actually care not only about people individually, but about the podcasting field in general. Dave will never tell you to exchange reviews. I know this practice exists, and yes, of course I've been tempted to go this route myself, but think about it.... why should you get someone to review your show who will never listen to it? Don't you want REAL listeners to review your show? You will only gain listeners by producing great content and marketing your show to actual potential listeners. Also don't be fooled by Dave's humility. He really knows his stuff and if you spend a few shows listening to him, you'll start to learn it too. I've greatly improved my podcasting skills by listening to his show, and being a member of his School of Podcasting hasn't hurt either because he always answers my questions, usually within an hour of my emailing him. If you are going to pay for a podcasting coach, the value you get from the School of Podcasting can't be beat.
What a fantastic resource this show has been for me. As a 51 year old professional in the entertainment industry, I knew nothing about podcasting when I decided to have my own show. The School of Podcasting has and will continue to be my GPS (great podcasting source). Thanks Dave for doing your homework! Alan Bruess, Tailgate Entertainer
Thanks Dave! For years now, every time I needed to research something related to podcasting, you are always one of my 2 goto sources. Thanks for being a great teacher, for delivering your show with passion and fresh enthusiasm in every episode. I get sucked in overtime and listen to your entire episodes because they are so engaging. Love hearing your opinions, suggestions and wisdom. Thanks for investing the time to serve and help millions over all these years!
I absolutely love Dave Jackson. Everything he talks about is incredibly informative even if the topic isn't something I think will apply to me. Because of his advice, I'm almost ready to start my own podcast.
Dave is not only funny and informative but the real deal! It's time to goto school with Dave!
I just discovered School of Podcasting after hearing Dave being interviewed on a couple of other podcasts. Let me tell you Dave is honest, on-point and hilarious all at the same time. I have been podcasting for almost 2 years and I was looking for more information to better my craft. Thank you Dave for the real life experience you bring to the table with over 10 years of podcasting. I am looking forward to many more episodes.
David is a person of integrity who thinks with his listeners best interest in mind. In episode 495 David interviewed me because he wanted to hear my side of the story instead of jumping to conclusions as countless amounts of other podcasters did. He allowed me to tell "my side" of the story to my business model and in the end he agreed with what I was doing. In David you have host that we trust to deliver quality content that will benefit you and your podcast. Subscribe to this show!!!!
This show is legit. Dave knows a ton about podcasting. If you need help getting launched he's your guy! If you don't have a web host set up yet he's your guy! Just shoot him an email and he will be glad to help you! I'm so thankful for people like Dave. Thanks for being awesome Dave! Your friend -Ben
Dave has tremendous podcast experience and can help you develop your current podcast or get one off the ground. This is a fantastic resource. —Daniel Bauer @_BetterSchools
With each episode of the School of Podcasting, Dave Jackson teaches me a critical lesson that I can immediately employ. Simple, yet valuable, the lessons he shares have given me the confidence to build my own podcast series. There is no way I would be ready to tackle this effort without him!
While I know I am not the first and I will not be the last to review this podcast, I am so glad that I found Dave Jackson and the School of Podcasting. As a fairly newer podcaster I am always looking to learn and Dave brings his fun, interactive approach to every episode along with the wide array of background and years of experience that he has too. I am still working through all of the back episodes, but Dave truly is working to help you be the best podcaster that you can be and I am glad to be a loyal listener!
When I start the only thing I knew less than wordpress was how to create a podcast. School of Podcasting really helped me. I recommend that beginners like me sign up for the tutorials which are a big help.
Maybe it's all that time I spent listening to and working in public radio, but there's a certain style I usually prefer. Dave Jackson is not public radio, but I enjoy listening to his show, perspective, and occasional rants. He's a teacher, and that's apparent in most episodes. And podcasts that teach ARE my style.
Its not just Dave's podcast, its his caring attitude that makes the difference. If you have a question he will email you an answer from his wealth of knowledge and experience, that's the personal touch that Dave delivers.
Dave Jackson is one of the first podcasts that I have ever listened to. He is entertaining and brings a lot of relevant information on learning how to podcast. I look forward to his podcasts every week. Dave is one of the reasons that I want to get into podcasting. If you want to LEARN how to podcast on a BUDGET then you need to listen to this show. Thank you Dave for rocking it.
Dave's show great place for great information on podcasting. Also he is part of my monday moring drive to work.
If you want to start a podcast you could do a lot worse than starting with Dave. He knows what he’s talking about and he can get you headed in the right direction in a cost effective way. He has really good guests and is a great interviewer. I met him in person recently at the Podcast Movement and he’s as kind and funny in person as he is on his podcast!
Dave Jackson's podcast about podcasting is the first one I came across that was down to earth. He doesn't promise the sun and the moon while charging you 2 grand. He has years of experience in podcasting and teaching. Listen and subscribe - you'll learn a lot.
If you’re new to podcasting, give Dave’s show a try. He really does know how to take the pain out of podcast production. And he has over 400 episodes (of this show alone!) to prove it.
There is a new approach of giving to your audience and they will give back. I asked Dave a question via his speak pipe. Not only did he get back to me within an hour, he provided a comprehensive video response. I’m not sure he can do this for everyone, but I can tell you I really appreciate his listener service. His podcasts are chock full of information and you should really tune in and follow this guy. He knows his stuff (10 years of experience in the field) and he openly shares it with tact and passion. Thanks, Dave!
This podcast is a great way to learn about podcasting in a fun and informative fashion. Dave is the best.
I appreicate Dave's info-tainment. I have learned so much from him. The School of Podcasting Morning Annoucments is a generous gift to the podcasting world. Thanks for shorting my learning curve. -Henry Jasper Voices That Carry podcast. voicesthatcarry.net
Stop pro-casterbating and publish your podcast! This podcast is truly “edu-taining,”as Dave provides the right balance of lessons and laughs while making me look forward to Mondays with his weekly episode of the School of Podcasting. Why did it take me so long to find this podcast??? Be sure to also checkout his “Ask the Podcast Coach” live stream/podcast on Saturday mornings at 10:30am EST, too! I like what I hear, Dave, and I’m telling ‘everybody’ - The School of Podcasting is my favorite podcast!
Dave Jackson knows his stuff. He's been a podcaster since the term was coined. A real teacher. He doesn't talk down to you if you are a beginner or an old pro. He tries everything so you don't have to.
Dave is the real podfather — experienced, knowledgeable, and very entertaining. … My podcast went live today on iTunes, and I know I could not have done it without this podcast and all Dave shares with the podcasting community. Thanks, Dave!
Dave Jackson has almost single handedly given me the confidence to keep trying to make my podcast better. I generally don't listen to podcasts on podcasting because I want to be entertained. Dave Jackson has found a way to make this not only educational but also entertaining and dare I say inspiring. Thanks Dave
If you are looking for instruction to start or improve your podcast, you will love the way Dave talks in terms you can understand. He does not use confusing jargon or complicated instructions. Instead, you get easy-to-implement tips to make your audio, content and podcast better. Dave makes it fun by being himself. His content isn’t simply rehashed week after week. He keeps the learning entertaining. Give Dave 3 or 4 listens and see how your podcast improves.
"Everything You Need To Launch A Successful Podcast" Dave Jackson gives you exactly that: honest direct advice on how to get your podcast started. It doesn't hurt that he is also engaging, informative, personable, and thoroughly dedicated to helping people with their podcasts.
Dave Jackson’s show is one of the original podcasts about podcasting, and he is still focusing well on podcasting after more than 400 episodes! Dave is always personal, honest, and informative!
There are lots of podcast coaches and consultants, but Dave is uniquely valuable. He’s really into podcasting and has been for almost a decade. He’s not a Johnny-come-lately. And he’s entertaining. I’ve been listening to Dave for many years, along with other podcast experts…and in my opinion he stands alone. He takes the subject seriously, but not himself. Subscribe, learn and laugh.
Dave Jackson is the 'Dean' of Podcasting, and if you're interested in learning the ropes-you better show up for class! This is the one Podcast about Podcasting you should be listening to!
Dave Jackson is knowledgeable, entertaining and honest as the day is long. He is the “teacher" when it comes to podcasting. I have taken his class, and watched his instructional videos. They are excellent; I can’t wait to hear his next podcast. If your are interested in podcasting, I highly recommend you take Dave’s course and listen to his podcasts. Update, Dave continues to be one of the best podcasters!
Dave is just real. He covers it all. And it should be required listening for any podcaster! “Back in the day…” - Dave Jackson. Thanks, Dave!
I just love Dave's show. I have been listening for years. His topics aren't always relevant to me as an experienced podcaster (he often covers topics for newbies), but I keep listening anyway because I just adore Dave so much. And he does still share enough that helps us experienced podcasters as well! He's genuine, and he's humble and he's goofy! I love that about him, it makes him down-to-earth and relatable and LIKEABLE! He talks about himself just enough to help you feel like you can relate to him, but not so much that he comes across as tooting his own horn (unlike other podcast experts, who I shall not name). Fangirl raves aside, the info he shares is actually quite good as well! Dave has been the biggest help to me on my journey with my podcast. He is very approachable and if you email him, he actually will respond with help! I will continue to listen to Dave and the School of Podcasting is now the ONLY podcast I listen to about podcasting. I need no other!
Dave Jackson is not only a master of the craft of podcasting, but he is able to convey that knowledge to his audience in an entertaining manner. I learned what I needed to know to get started from listening to Dave and a few others. First he will get you interested, and before you know it you'll be hooked.
Excellent info entertainingly presented. Reminds me of an 80's radio show. Dave is one of the most sincere and invested podcasters around. The original podcast about podcasting. He does it because he loves it. Sometimes blunt and in your face, he also has a very caring and nurturing side. If you want tough love while learning to start your podcast, listen and interact with Dave. Your podcast will rank with the best!
